Non-shooting course and teaches students the basic knowledge, skills, and to explain the attitude necessary for the safe handling and storage of firearms and ammunition in the home.
This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only. Students are taught the three rules for safe gun handling; primary causes of firearms accidents; firearm parts; how to unload certain action types; ammunition components; cleaning; care; safe storage of firearms in the home; and the benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports. This course fulfills the State requirement for participant to file for Concealed Carry. Course fee is $65.00
This is a 5 hour class and teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for carrying concealed. This training course is the vital first part of responsible firearms ownership, particularly for those interested in defensive issues. We will cover safety, Handling of a firearm, loading and unloading firearms, Immediate action drills, and carrying concealed along with use of force. Afterwards a range day for a live fire qualification course of fire. This course will also fulfill the Virginia’s requirement for competency to file for a Concealed Handgun Permit.
This is a minimum 5 hour course for Utah Non Resident Concealed Firearm Permit that is conducted in the classroom only. This class is a non shooting, lecture only. This states permit is the most widely accepted non resident permit in the Country.We follow the mandate that Utah BCI has set. This covers many different aspects of firearm safety and responsibility of ownership.
A student manual, Certificate(if Needed) and fingerprint card are provided. Prints can be obtained from you local Police Dept, Sheriff’s Dept or State Police. If you already have a Concealed Handgun Permit this will allow you to carry your handgun in well over 25 states(even if your state does not have reciprocity). This course also covers the competency requirement for Virginia’s Conceal Handgun Permit.
NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course Phase 2
The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting course is a blended training course, which means a portion of the course (Phase 1) is conducted in an online environment that can be completed on your own time. Register online at https://onlinetraining.nra.org/ Upon successfully completing the online exam, students will be required to register for the instructor-led training portion (Phase 2), which is to be conducted in a classroom and local range with an NRA Certified Instructor. You must successfully complete Phase 1 and Phase 2 in order to receive your Basics of Pistol Shooting course certificate.
Firearm Instruction, Responsibility, and Safety Training — is the response to the American public’s need for a firearm orientation program for new purchasers. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time shooting with no additional fees or hidden costs. Tuition covers ammunition, targets, eye and ear protection, and classroom and range fees. All you have to bring is something comfortable to wear and a desire to learn.We’ll go over the rules for safe gun handling, the particular pistol model parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, cleaning the pistol, and continued opportunities for skill development. This class fulfills Va. competency requirements for Concealed Handgun Permit.
Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family, and to provide information on the law-abiding individual’s right to self-defense.
This is an eight-hour course. Students should expect to shoot approximately 100 rounds of ammunition. Students will learn basic defensive shooting skills, strategies for home safety and responding to a violent confrontation, firearms and the law, how to choose a handgun for self-defense. Students will receive course completion certificate.(Lesson Plan, revised 08/11)NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course is for law-abiding adult citizens. Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA FIRST Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the PreCourse Assessment.
Cost 30.00 per hour plus range fees.
Taught in a small group of 4-6. This class is for the women who want to learn how to shoot, but do not know where to begin. We go from orientation to hands-on to the range. I take a unique approach with women who have never shot before. I utilize Laserlyte pistols and targets system which work on sight alignment and get you comfortable and confident with trigger pulls and sight pictures. At which time when we proceed to the range we use a converted 22 cal full size semi automatic after shooting this way you sharpen skills without heavy recoil. We then proceed to shoot the caliber you will shoot on a regular basis. This method has also worked with folks who are a little nervous about handling a firearm for the first time. Course fee is $150.00
This course is at least 12 hours long. We start on a Friday evening and complete on Saturday with classroom and range. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; Zeroing rifle, shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certification
NRA FIRST Steps Rifle is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific rifle action type for classes of 8-10 students. We will focus on America’s most popular rifle The Modern day Sport rifle, The AR 15. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular rifle model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals.
